Exterior The new Suzuki S-Cross possesses bold looks, particularly where its powerful front-end is concerned; it features an expansive piano-black mesh radiator grille, flanked either side by a swept-back headlight array. The vehicle is flush with time-saving features, such as electrically adjustable, power-folding and heated door mirrors, and rain-sensing front and rear windshield wipers. The new S-Cross is practical too, offering unfettered five-door access, which is further enhanced by raised ground clearance.
All-weather illumination As well as standard-issue LED low-and-high-beam projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights, the new Suzuki S-Cross is fitted with front and rear fog lamps. This means the vehicle provides optimal illumination, reacting automatically to oncoming traffic while piercing through the thickest of fogs.
Stylish features In addition to 17-inch alloy wheels (comprising a painted finish with AllGrip trims and a polished veneer with AllGrip Prestige grades), the S-Cross is fitted with dark-tinted rear glass. Both features provide the vehicle with extra visual interest, and the latter also serves to provide back-row travellers with enhanced privacy.
S-Cross colours Once you’ve selected the new Suzuki S-Cross, why not choose your ideal paint finish? A Glacier White coat looks crisp and smart, while Cosmic Black provides a stark, noirish alternative. If you fancy a tone that sits somewhere in between, either Titan Dark Grey or Silky Silver should do the trick. Alternatively, Energetic Red or Sphere Blue provide the vehicle with an altogether more vivid appearance.
Interior If you yearn for a well-appointed and comfortable cabin, the S-Cross has you covered. Its interior is awash with soft-touch materials, with AllGrip trims featuring smart cloth-upholstered seats – while AllGrip Prestige grades afford leather-trimmed alternatives.
Comfort and flexibility The driver is provided with an adjustable position and tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and both front seats are heated, delivering extra comfort at colder times of year. Rear-row travellers, meanwhile, are treated to two-stage reclining positions, and the rear bench is 60/40 split-folding, too, allowing for greater passenger-cargo flexibility.
Multimedia in motion A minimum six-speaker sound system (plus a front centre speaker with top-tier Prestige trims) includes DAB radio, USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity. A seven-inch touchscreen provides access to a range of features, including Android/Apple smartphone mirroring. For a larger, nine-inch screen and satellite navigation, it’s worth considering an upgrade to the Prestige grade.
S-Cross safety Awarded a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating, the new Suzuki S-Cross is ladened with passive protective features. For instance, ISOFIX anchorage and tamper-proof rear door locks help ensure that younger travellers are kept safe and secure. A wide range of driver aids feature too, such as Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane-departure Prevention, Blind-spot Monitoring and Hill-hold Control.
Performance The driver is provided with a pleasingly elevated position, providing a good view of the way ahead, and the vehicle is lighter than many of its close competitors (the Toyota Corolla, for example, which is more than 100kg heavier). Accordingly, the S-Cross delivers agile handling and enhanced efficiency. Thanks to its MacPherson-strut front suspension, it manages uneven surfaces well, while helping to keep most exterior noises at bay.
Power + efficiency = S-Cross Fitted with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and paired with six-speed automatic transmission, the new Suzuki S-Cross produces 103kW of power and 220Nm of torque. This turbo-charged drivetrain delivers a sprightly 0-100km/h in less than nine seconds. It also manages a more than creditable 6.2 litres per 100km, making it much more cost-effective to run than you might expect.
AllGrip, all of the time Both trims are fitted with a four-wheel drivetrain, which is ideal for handling all kinds of surfaces and weather conditions. Four selectable drive modes are included too. AUTO delivers optimal efficiency by defaulting to two-wheel drive. SPORT is ideal for twisting roads since it makes full use of all four wheels. SNOW does just what you expect, counteracting slippery surfaces. LOCK transfers torque to all four wheels in order to pull the vehicle out of mud, sand or snow.
4WD Control We’ve already listed some of the S-Cross’ active safety features but there are plenty more, including 4WD Control, which sends torque to the rear axle whenever front-wheel slippage is detected. In fact, it monitors the road surface (and other factors), anticipating potential slippage, which means it’s more proactive than reactive and provides maximal stability.
